In 2010, FieldWorks worked with the Electrification Coalition (a coalition of business leaders and national organizations) to employ a grasstops strategy in support of Federal Legislation which if passed would have created the resources needed to build up city level infrastructure for broader deployment of electric vehicles. FieldWorks created a regional 20 state strategy to build a network of Mayors, Governors, Business Leaders, NGO’s, and other influential to write top level letters in support of the legislation. FieldWorks was able to generate letters from more than 45 Mayors, 4 Governors, The Western Governors Association, Numerous businesses (Including Enterprise Holdings the largest rental car company in the world), and countless national and state level environmental and public organizations. In addition to building support FieldWorks also created a comprehensive action center for supporters to take urgent action in support of the bill and on the ground grassroots actions for key Senate Targets. The funding bill was scheduled for markup and elements of the bill had been incorporated in a national oil savings bill but were postponed because of the 2010 elections.
